Work life as a Tower Technician
To perform this job, individuals must climb the physical tower. Technicians must follow detailed protocols to ensure their safety as well as that of those around them.
Tower Technicians have critical responsibilities and duties. They inspect towers for safety and stability before bolting equipment into place by lifting assembled sectors into place by the use of either a capstan or crane. Tower Technicians climb heights on average of 50 to 300 feet above the ground as part of their regular work.
Installing antennas, radios, laying fiber optic and coaxial cables for new install telecommunication. This work at times will include the decomissioning of old equipment. Technicians work in inclement weather and need to be in good physical condition to manage the daily rigor of the job.
This is an ever evolving industry, with the opportunity to learn and continue to grow.
